We’ve just added two new courses to our popular collection of Game Studies courses in OCW.
In CMS.611J Creating Video Games, students learn creative design and production methods, working together in small teams to design, develop, and thoroughly test their own original digital games. Its OCW site features lots of great content, including:
- Three student-designed games that you can play online, plus a complete description of the project steps students followed to create these games.
- Audio recordings of most lectures, including several guest lectures by professionals working in the game industry.
- Instructor insights about teaching this course.
And in CMS.615 Games for Social Change, students collaborate in teams to design, prototype, and assess games about social change and civic engagement. Its OCW site features a playlist of serious games on topics such as refugees and civil war, sweatshop labor, and climate change.
