For over a decade, EmTech MIT has introduced the innovators and emerging technologies that are poised to reshape industries and change the world. This year’s event promises to build on that tradition of innovation.

Speaker Spotlight: Deb Roy, Chief Media Scientist, Twitter

8N4_21NS-1In 2011, Deb Roy took to the EmTech stage to discuss Bluefin Labs—his fledgling company, sprung from brilliant minds at the MIT Media Lab, which analyzed social-media chatter to measure real-time audience response to TV ads and shows.

Since then, Bluefin has established social TV analytics as a critical emerging area at the intersection of social and traditional media, leading to partnerships with media giants ABC News and Publicis’s SMG and eventually to the company’s much-publicized acquisition by Twitter earlier this year.

This October, Deb Roy, now chief media scientist at Twitter, joins us to share his insight on how more accessable data and powerful analytics tools will enable personalized new services in media and other industries globally.
