MIT Biology Professor Eric Lander was named a Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences laureate today. From the Breakthrough Prize site:

Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences is founded by Art Levinson, Sergey Brin, Anne Wojcicki, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, and Yuri Milner to recognize excellence in research aimed at curing intractable diseases and extending human life.

Lander is also teaching an edX course, Introduction to Biology: “The Secret of Life”, which starts March 5th. He described the course today during an interview on the show Here and Now.
